More About Me... My Journey as a Midwife and Lactation Consultant

When I started studying midwifery out of sheer curiosity in 2002, I had no idea how much this profession would become part of me and where it would guide me on my life’s journey. I remember it as if it were yesterday—the first time I cared for a woman in labor and was able to welcome her little boy into the world alongside her. Over time, I discovered what this field truly entails during my studies and through work in hospitals, clinics, and outpatient centers in the Czech Republic, as well as in Scotland and France.

Several years have passed since then, and I continue to support and guide women on their journey to pregnancy, childbirth, and motherhood. I currently work in a gynecology clinic while also serving as a private midwife. I also accompany women through the postpartum period, focusing particularly on breastfeeding.

An integral part of my practice is preparing women and their partners for childbirth. Years ago, I created a prenatal course designed to provide expectant parents with professional information about pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. Over time, I have adapted the course to meet the individual needs of future parents.

The preparation is full of inspiration and practical advice, tested through real-life experience and stories.
I offer comprehensive prenatal preparation, helping parents approach pregnancy and the arrival of their baby with confidence, and easing fears about childbirth.

My daily reward is seeing happy, confident families who understand their needs and have answers to their questions.

My Journey to Coaching

The period of pregnancy, childbirth, and especially the postpartum period is one of the most beautiful times in life for most expectant parents. However, for many, it is also one of the most challenging.

As a midwife, I am convinced that an important part of my work is caring for the woman’s mental well-being. Often, women had concerns and stress in areas where my professional knowledge had its limits. I tried to calm them empathetically with words like, “Don’t worry, you’ll manage!” I offered advice on what might be the best solution for them. But this didn’t always work. Sometimes I felt that even though my work fulfilled me and I considered it a calling, there were times when I felt exhausted and helpless.

Then came the period when I became pregnant, and my husband and I were excited for our baby. I received professional healthcare, everything went smoothly, and we attended a comprehensive prenatal class together, full of valuable information. I took care of my physical condition. Despite all this, I still felt uncertainty and fear.

I asked myself whether I would be able to manage the birth and, most of all, “the breastfeeding.” I feared I wouldn’t know what to do, that I wouldn’t be “perfect.” After all, I’m a midwife, and I should know all of this. Conflicting emotions surfaced. The same thing happened after the birth. The postpartum period caught me by surprise.

When I was expecting my second child, we had already been living in France for some time. Although I had some health complications during my pregnancy, I truly enjoyed it. However, I began to feel completely different fears than with my first pregnancy.

I was afraid that I wouldn’t understand the French-speaking staff during the birth, I was also worried about being far from my Czech family and not seeing them for a long time. I wondered who would help me in a foreign country when my husband would be at work. How would I manage everything?

And more ...

I realized that with motherhood come various questions that I had never had to address before. All the uncertainties that women had brought to me for advice started running through my mind.

It became clear to me that although pregnant women are under the excellent care of various professionals, attend different exercise classes, get massages, and take prenatal courses with their partners, this kind of support alone is often not enough. They need to turn their attention inward, to their own intuition.

I thought for a long time about how to improve this care. How to support women and their families even better while maintaining my own inner balance.

It all changed when I encountered coaching, after reading a sentence somewhere: “Coaches are like midwives on your journey to yourself and your goal.” Shortly after, an advertisement for a coaching school popped up, and I became a coach. I personally experienced that coaching is about a person’s mental growth and can focus on various areas of life. It has a positive intent. It brings a sense of perspective to life.

My approach to expectant parents took a completely new direction.

I found a way to support women (and their partners) during pregnancy, childbirth, and motherhood, so they can experience the changes this period brings with satisfaction and perspective.
